Building Purchased - £715,000

New Beginnings

Purchased in November 2024, the building came with plenty of work — but its location just 30 seconds from our current building made it an easy choice.

Structurally unsound portacabins and a badly damaged roof on the retail units meant a full replacement was needed over the years

So much work to do!

It also became clear that several walls were poorly supported and required removal and replacement to allow the space to be safely reconfigured. A spacious new hall for our sisters

A sneak peek of the warehouse

To the rear of the site, the warehouse provides a large internal space, which was used as our equipment store while work was underway.

Insha’Allah, this area will form part of the men’s prayer hall – very soon!

So much work to do!

This is inside Unit Four - it will be changed to a meeting room and classroom inshaAllah.

April 2025

Demolition

Undo to redo

Stripping it all back

Work began with the stripping process, carried out entirely by our dedicated volunteers — helping to reduce costs and maximise the impact of every donation.

Breaking Unit Four

Unit 4 presented a significant challenge due to its solid construction. Through determination and teamwork, our volunteers were able to break through.

Opening the Space

Multiple internal walls were removed to allow the creation of one large, expansive hall — a key step in delivering the space for sisters.

Removing the Portacabin Roof

The roof of the portacabins was removed, and the structure carefully dismantled through coordinated volunteer effort.

Rubble to Renewal

Waste management - skips

The substantial volume of waste generated by demolition was managed through the strategic use of skips for safe and efficient disposal.

Waste management - timber

To further optimise the budget, all salvageable timber was diverted for recycling or repurposed. Ensuring a cost-effective and responsible removal process.

Roof Refurbishment

The roof was completely refurbished to provide a safe and lasting structure, with protective materials installed to guard against moisture and preserve the work completed so far.

Exterior Works

The old front signage was removed, marking the beginning of the building’s outward transformation.

Internal

Working on the Sisters' Side

Steel Reinforcement – Sisters’ Side

Steel beams were fitted to provide vital structural support, allowing initial works on the sisters’ side to progress while planning approval is awaited.

Stud Walls – Sisters’ Side

New stud walls were installed to define the internal layout and prepare the space for future use.

Insulation – Sisters’ Side

Thermal insulation was installed throughout the building, for comfort, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

Sisters’ Outer Doorway

A new dedicated entrance for the sisters’ side was constructed, offering safe, private, and convenient access

Wiring & Plumbing – Sisters’ Side

New electrical wiring and main plumbing systems were installed to support the all the building’s power and utility needs.

Skimming the Walls

All walls were skimmed and prepared to perfection, bringing the interior closer to completion.

Utilities Infastructure

We’ve upgraded all our incoming utility infrastructure, including water, gas, and electricity, to ensure we can comfortably meet the needs of the Jamaat

Jan 2026

Flooring

The uneven, multi stepped flooring has been corrected and laser-levelled precision to ensure a safe and uninterrupted flow for the young and elderly.

Feb 2026

Frontage

The exterior was carefully revitalised to provide a fresh, modern look while improving energy efficiency and internal comfort.

Preparation Room

A much-needed flexible preparation area is now being set aside, allowing us to better support events community iftars, coffee mornings, and similar gatherings—no more taking over the Imam’s office
